| The ultimate bang for your buck - the Aedon uses the highest-end technology for this frame without reflecting that in the price tag. The heart and soul of the Aedon is its tubing construction. It's made from Dedacciai's "HF" hydroformed aluminum. You're probably familiar with hydroforming: It's what Pinarello uses on it's highest end aluminum frameset, the Paris. And it's what DeRosa uses on their premium-quality aluminum frameset, the Merak. Dedacciai takes their lightweight aluminum tubes and places them in a mold. They pump the tubes with extremely high-pressure gas, which forces them to take the shape of the mold. This process gives the frameset more durability than a standard drawn tube, while giving it stiffness that approaches what you feel when you ride a carbon frame |

| Like all of the Ridley frames raced in the ProTour, the Orion is built in a monocoque design. The tubes are made from what Ridley terms 24-ton carbon fiber. By definition, it has a tensile strength of 24 tons per square cm, and Ridley chooses to make the outermost weave unidirectional carbon. The weight of the Orion is nearly identical to the Damocles, even though it costs less. The Orion is a pure race bike, and it's at home in any conditions: flat or hilly, smooth roads or jarring. |
